Arthur Mason is Associate Professor of Social Anthropology at NTNU and founder of StudioPolar. His research examines expertise, environmental futures, and knowledge platforms. Working across ethnography, archives, and visual research, he conducts fieldwork in Alaska, Norway, Russia, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

His books include Island of Inland Empire (2026), Energy Images (2026), Consulting Energy (2025), Energy Capitol (2024), and Arctic Abstractive Industry (2022). Current projects include Affective Infrastructures, Roundtable Diagnostics, Promenade, and Corridor of Impact.

StudioPolar is a surface form for designing scholarship, expertise, and strategic coordination. Through archives, publications, workshops, and collaborative research initiatives, it develops new approaches to understanding contemporary forms of knowledge, governance, and environmental change.
